Five Tips for Preparing for the HIMSS Global Health Conference

By: Ashton Harrison | March 2, 2020

With the 2020 HIMSS Global Health Conference only a week away, now is the time to prepare and plan how you will make the most out of your attendance. The conference, taking place from Sunday, March 8th through Friday, March 13th in Orlando, is one the largest information and technology events of the year. HIMSS is a great opportunity for health information and technology professionals to network, collaborate and attend educational sessions on the latest healthcare trendsTo help you get the most out of the event, below are five tips as you plan your trip to Orlando

1. Review the Exhibitor List

The exhibition hall can be a bit overwhelming, with over 1,300 companies exhibitingIn order to avoid aimlessly wandering through the expansive exhibitor hall, take the time prior to the event to review the exhibitors and prioritize companies you would like to visit. Due to the exhibit hall being so large, documenting where the booths are located and knowing their booth numbers prior to attending will make your HIMSS experience much more productive.

2. Plan Out Your Session Schedule

HIMSS offers over 350 sessions from industry experts and provides a selection of seventeen topic categories, ranging from artificial intelligence to population health. These sessions vary in format, with some offering interactive case studies, panel discussions, or “SPARK” (Sessions Providing Actionable and Rapid Knowledge). All general educational sessions are included with full registration, so this is something to take advantage of! View and plan your session schedule now.

3. Check out the Featured Speakers

In addition to informational sessions, the HIMSS conference also offers the opportunity to hear from successful industry leaders who will share innovative ideas and motivational insights. A few examples of the speakers include CEOs Gianrico Farrugia of Mayo Clinic and Rod Hochman of Providence St. Joseph who will discuss major healthcare issues, such as social determinants of health, advanced analytics, and preparing a new workforce. The conference offers a wide variety of  keynote speakers and the opportunity to learn from experts and leaders.

4. Plan Time to Network

When it comes to networking, HIMSS is the perfect opportunity to meet with prospects, customers or partners. With nearly 45,000 attendees, there is a high probability that much of your network will be in attendance, and proactively reaching out in the weeks leading up to the event is a great way to secure a meeting time with these folks. HIMSS recognizes the importance of networking and provides networking areas throughout the conference venue.

5. Discover New Innovative Partners

The HIMSS event promotes the idea of ‘transformation of health through the application of information and technology.’ With this message in mind, take the opportunity to meet new innovative partners. Trella Health is eager for the opportunity to learn from other industry experts, and share our new solution, Marketscape Strategy.
