Investing in Customers’ Success, Trella Acquires PlayMaker Health

By Ashton Harrison | February 18, 2022

Last year was a remarkable year for Trella Health, having closed 2021 with 160% growth. A significant contributor to this success is our dedicated commitment to our customers, providing them with the right insights and tools to compete effectively and partner efficiently in the post-acute and value-based care sectors. This commitment led to our recent acquisition of PlayMaker Health.

At Trella, our customers are at the forefront of every decision we make. We respectfully remain closely connected to them to allow us to quickly address any questions or needs and identify ways to enhance our platform to provide a better user experience and ultimately deliver better care outcomes.

During our conversations, one request that we received from several clients over the past couple of years was for improved Customer Relationship Management (CRM) capabilities to better integrate our data into workflows.

What started as a friendly “how’s business” conversation with PlayMaker’s CEO, Gregg Boyle, at Home Care 100 in June 2021 became more serious following November’s significant growth investment round from Cressey & Company LP and Panoramic Ventures. While our customers were interested in improving CRM functionality, PlayMaker wanted access to deeper data analytics.

Combining the two companies allows us to infuse our robust, actionable market intelligence and acclaimed customer experience capabilities with PlayMaker’s mobile-first CRM offering. Together we’ve created the post-acute care industry’s most comprehensive market intelligence, engagement, and growth platform.

“As a long-time partner of both Trella and Playmaker, we are highly encouraged by the prospect of these two platforms coming together. This has the potential to substantially change the landscape for the home health and hospice industry,” shared Scott Blanchette, Chief Information Officer at COMPASSUS.

Our post-acute care customers now have a single provider for complete visibility into growth and performance metrics to help them focus their strategy, empower sales and marketing, and advance their business. Bringing market intelligence, CRM, and EMR referral management needs into one unified platform and newly released mobile application, our users receive:

  • Access to 90% of all healthcare data available for the 65 plus population, including 100% Medicare Part A and B Fee-for-Service claims and Medicare Advantage Commercial claims data
  • CRM and mobile-first application to enable representative accountability, measure performance, conversion rates, account activity and growth with executive dashboards and reports with real-time output
  • EMR integrations to track existing referral sources and see when referrals come in to properly attribute them to accounts, contacts, marketers and branches to measure marketing and sales performance

The acquisition also brings more than 35 integrated referral EMR partners to Trella’s current offering, including Homecare Homebase, MatrixCare, Netsmart, and WellSky.

“The transaction makes 100% sense and is highly strategic,” added Eugene Goldenberg, Managing Director at Edgemont.

From a business perspective, the acquisition adds a fantastic group of industry experts to the Trella team, while opening the door to new adjacent end markets, including home medical equipment (HME) and infusion.

This year is already off to a fantastic start. We’re looking forward to what else 2022 has in store.
