About David Kerr
David Kerr serves as Chief Technology Officer at Trella Health, where he leads the company’s technology strategy, innovation efforts, and platform scalability. He is focused on building the intelligent workflows, data infrastructure, and technical foundation needed to help healthcare organizations operate more efficiently and make more informed decisions.
David brings more than 25 years of technology leadership experience across software engineering, infrastructure, healthcare IT, fintech, payments, and enterprise software. After graduate school at Colorado State University, he began his career at Accenture, then known as Anderson Consulting, as a technology consultant. He later built his foundation as a software engineer before moving into leadership roles, including development manager, director, and Vice President of Engineering at S&P Global.
Prior to joining Trella, David served as CTO at Forcura, where he led technology initiatives focused on workflow automation, EHR integration, and AI solutions for post-acute care providers. He has also held leadership roles at Infinicept and Fortress Consulting, building and scaling engineering teams across complex, highly regulated industries.
David was drawn to healthcare technology because of the opportunity to solve difficult problems that directly affect providers, patients, and the way care is delivered. At Trella, he helps build technology that brings together data, workflows, and intelligence in ways that make complex healthcare decisions easier to act on.
David believes AI has significant potential to improve healthcare, especially when paired with human judgment. While he recognizes the importance of accounting for AI’s limitations, he sees value in human-in-the-loop models, where people verify and strengthen the output of large language models. Internally, David uses AI to support workflow processing and document creation, helping reduce manual effort while keeping people involved to ensure accuracy, context, and quality.
A U.S. Navy veteran, David served as a nuclear operator in a high-pressure environment that required discipline, focus, teamwork, and composure. He also credits his upbringing on a farm in rural Colorado with shaping his resourcefulness and work ethic — learning early to fix what was in front of him, solve problems with what he had, and approach challenges with persistence.
David holds both a Bachelor of Arts and an MBA from Colorado State University and completed a Data Science certification through Harvard University’s Division of Continuing Education. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from Colorado State University Global.
Outside of work, David enjoys spending time with his family and competing in powerlifting. The discipline, consistency, and focus required in the sport reflect the same mindset he brings to technology leadership: steady progress, rigorous execution, and a commitment to doing hard things well.
