Where Are New Hospice and Home Health Agencies Emerging?

CMS’ recent moratoriums on new home health and hospice agency enrollments have brought renewed attention to provider growth, market saturation, and fraud risk across the country.

This interactive map visualizes newly enumerated home health and hospice agency NPIs eligible to bill Medicare, helping healthcare leaders explore where agency growth has accelerated by geography and time period.

About the data:

Enumeration and NPI data are pulled from the NPPES database. NPIs eligible to bill Medicare are identified using the home health and hospice provider enrollment data files last updated on April 1, 2026.
The enumeration date filter is non-inclusive of the selected month. For example, if January 2023 is selected, new agencies are counted as those enumerated on or after February 1, 2023.
The NPPES data does not contain NPIs enumerated after January 2026, so NPIs enumerated between February 2026 and today are not included in the tool.
